“You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream.”
C. S. Lewis
Beyond the Quote (Day 376)
I might even take it one step further and say it is precisely when you stop setting goals and dreaming new dreams that you become old. Goals and dreams give direction. Direction gives reason and purpose for movement; progress; growth. Without direction, you become directionless; stagnant; immobile. Movement is the essence of life. Stagnation is the essence of death.
To be clear, death isn’t just something that happens at the end of life. Death is what happens throughout your life whenever you end one of your journey’s forward. For, when you stop your journey towards a healthier self—you accept stagnation. When you stop advancing your way of thinking—your mind mucks. When you give up on relationships and cultivating love—you become cold and isolated. When you stop creating and producing your art—your identity rusts.
This is why, regardless of age, it’s crucial to have direction in every domain of life: physical; mental; and emotional. If you don’t have a direction for your body to head in, where do you suppose it’s going to head from directionlessness? If you’re not making time for Philosophy and better living, what do you suppose will fill that unmade time? If you aren’t working to improve the connections you have with yourself and others, how do you suppose they will ever improve?

NEW In The Shop: Don’t Let The Tame Ones Tell You How To Live [Poster]
Why We ♥ It: Some of the best advice I (Matt here) ever got was: don’t take life advice from people who aren’t living a life you want to live and don’t take criticism from people you wouldn’t go to for advice. I created this poster to act as a reminder to listen more closely to our role models and less closely to our critics, trolls, and tamed-comfort-zone-hugger acquaintances. It’s also a perfect gift for the outdoor adventurer, travel enthusiast, or solo explorer (or soon to be). Available in print or digital download. 👇🏼
